The key petroglyph sites of Kazakhstan and Western Central Asia (Tamgaly, Saimaly-Tash, and Zaraut-Sai) are
described as current and potential UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites and their signifi cance to the international
nomination project “Rock Art of Central Asia” is discussed. These sites are considered part of the cultural landscape
and require future multidisciplinary study.
